Laser hair removal for hair-free skin!
Men and women might spend days or weeks of their lifetime removing unwanted hair through shaving, waxing, and tweezing. Fortunately, there is a way to address this unwanted hair permanently: laser hair removal. Laser hair removal has been around for many years, and continues to improve. At Dermatology Consultants of Short Hills in Short Hills, NJ, men and women can discuss their needs with our team and find out if they are right for this or other treatment options.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal targets specific hair follicles in the treatment area that are in the active growth phase. Those that are not will not be removed during that specific session. Because of this, patients will need to schedule several sessions over many weeks in order to achieve full hair removal from the treated area. Fortunately, patients who are just looking to thin hair in an area, such as the back or chest, will benefit from fewer treatment sessions.
The laser light penetrates into the skin and damages the hair follicle. It releases the hair in place, and then is unable to produce more hair afterwards. This results in permanent removal, which is the goal for many of our patients. Patients find that the laser treatments are mildly uncomfortable though well-tolerated without the use of topical anesthetics, though we can provide this for those who have a low pain level tolerance. This treatment will gradually reduce the amount of hair in the area until full removal is achieved. Patients can say “good-bye!” to unwanted hair—for good!
